UPDATE: Third Suspect Taken Into Custody in Violet Homicide

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has taken a third suspect into custody in connection with last Thursday afternoon’s fatal shooting in Violet, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Arthur Coleman, 20, was taken into custody on a warrant for principal to second-degree murder.

With Coleman’s arrest, three of the five suspects identified in this case have now been apprehended.

Previously arrested were Tyreese Riley, 23, and Malajah Lougin, 19, who were both booked with principal to second-degree murder.

Arrest warrants remain active for Marcus Venible, 23, for second-degree murder, and Maliek Pickens, 21, for principal to second-degree murder.

The investigation remains ongoing.

On Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at approximately 12:40 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Colonial Boulevard in Violet. Upon arrival, they located a 17-year-old male victim behind a business suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
