SBSO ISSUES ARREST WARRANT FOR PERSON OF INTEREST NAMED IN FATAL SHOOTING

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for the person of interest named in the fatal shooting of a teenage boy that took place Thursday night in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Kelan Sartin, 18, of the 3800 block of Laplace Street in Chalmette, is wanted for second degree murder, as well as possession with intent to distribute marijuana and illegal possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, at approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call for service in reference to a shooting in the 3600 block of Golden Drive in Chalmette.

When deputies arrived on the scene they found a male victim lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim, later identified as a 14-year-old male juvenile, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
