TRAFFIC ALERT: GREEN BRIDGE REMAINS CLOSED
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation, the Paris Road Green Bridge remains closed to traffic due to icy conditions.
As the noon curfew has been lifted, Sheriff James Pohlmann advises St. Bernard residents to continue to use extreme caution when traveling on our roadways as temperatures remain low and icy conditions linger.
Black ice, a thin, transparent layer of ice that forms on roadways after such a significant snow event, is particularly dangerous because it blends in with the pavement, making it nearly impossible to detect.
These conditions significantly increase the risk of accidents, even for experienced drivers.
Residents needing to exit the parish can do so via the St. Claude Avenue Bridge.
