The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office mourns the loss of K9 Macho, who passed away today in the line of duty. 💙🐾
Around 8:30 am, our Crisis Management Unit was called to assist the U.S. Marshals Service with a wanted subject at a residence in the 2000 block of Estalote Ave. in Harvey. At approximately 10:50 am, deputies located the suspect inside the residence. While apprehending the suspect, Canine Macho experienced a medical emergency and was quickly transported to an area veterinarian hospital where he was pronounced dead. A necropsy will be performed to determine his cause of death.
Canine Macho has been a member of the JPSO for 6 years and has been deployed over 200 times. His contributions will never be forgotten. The loss of Canine Macho is deeply felt by our JPSO family and our surrounding partner agencies.
