St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office searching for suspect in
connection with armed robbery of Arabi business

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public in locating and identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Monday afternoon in Arabi, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call about an armed robbery that occurred at a business located in the 7400 block of West Judge Perez Drive in Arabi.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they met with an employee of the business who said an adult male who entered the business twice that afternoon had just robbed him at gunpoint.

The victim said the first time the man entered the business he asked a few questions about making a purchase, but left after just a few minutes. The victim said the man returned shortly after, but this time he brandished a handgun, demanded cash from the register, and then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20’s with a thin build. The first time the suspect entered the business he was wearing a camouflage shirt and hat, camouflage pants, black shoes, and a black face mask covering his mouth. The second time the suspect entered the business he was wearing camouflage pants, black shoes and a blue, white and red long sleeve, hooded sweater with an aztec print.

The suspect was seen leaving the scene westbound on Judge Perez Drive in a silver 2012-15 Nissan Altima 2-door Coupe with dark in color rims.

Sheriff Pohlmann said no one was injured in the incident.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity, his whereabouts or further information regarding this incident is asked to call the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501 or Crimestoppers GNO at (504) 822-1111. Tipsters who call Crimestoppers can remain anonymous, do not have to testify and could be eligible for a cash reward.
