St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office issues arrest warrant
for California man wanted for second degree battery

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for a California man following an incident that occurred Saturday, April 17, 2021 in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Aldon Smith, 31, of the 1700 block of 14th Street in Oakland, California, is wanted for second degree battery.

On Saturday, April 17, around 7:30 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call for medical assistance needed in the 2500 block of Paul Drive in Meraux.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they came into contact with a male victim who said he was assaulted by an acquaintance of his earlier while outside a business in the 8600 block of West Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.

During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau identified the suspect as Smith.
