ST. BERNARD SHERIFF TALKS TO CHS STUDENTS ABOUT MAKING GOOD CHOICES

St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann visited with nearly 150 Chalmette High School freshmen today (Nov. 13) to speak to them about the dangers of alcohol and drug addiction and the importance of making good choices.

Sheriff Pohlmann is among several community leaders who are visiting with CHS ninth graders over a 10-day period as part of the school’s participation in the national program “You Are Too Good For Drugs!”

The program is facilitated by Charles Cassar, cultural arts program coordinator for St. Bernard Parish Public Schools, in cooperation with VJ Dauterive and Desiree Hebert Wibright.

Other speakers included Joe Landix of Violet, who spoke to students about bad choices he made as a teen and how turning his life around has led him to a brighter and prosperous path.

Maj. Daniel Bostic, commander of the SBSO Special Investigations Division who oversees the Narcotics Division, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program and School Resource Officers, also was present.
