Sheriff James Pohlmann said the first shift of St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office deputies working this year’s Louisiana Crawfish Festival opened the fair today at 5 p.m.

Sheriff Pohlmann said the fair will be fully-staffed with rotating shifts of deputies on patrol inside the festival grounds and in the surrounding area for the duration of the event which runs through Sunday between the St. Bernard Parish government complex and the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette.

Fair hours are today until 10 p.m., Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The festival features live music, food booths, rides and more.

Admission is $8 per person if purchased online, or $10 if purchased at the gate. Anyone under 4 feet tall will be admitted free, along with military personnel with ID. Proceeds from the festival benefit many local charitable organizations.
