SBSO TRAFFIC PLAN FOR THURSDAY’S MITCHELL ROBINSON PARADE
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office will provide traffic control and security along the parade route Thursday evening as the community celebrates Chalmette High School graduate and NBA Champion Mitchell Robinson, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m., traveling eastbound on Judge Perez Drive from Old Hickory Avenue to Palmisano Boulevard near Chalmette High School.
To prepare for the parade, eastbound Judge Perez Drive will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. from Jean Lafitte Parkway to Palmisano Boulevard. Eastbound traffic on Judge Perez Drive will be diverted southbound onto Jean Lafitte Parkway to St. Bernard Highway.
Residents should note that ongoing construction activities on Jean Lafitte Parkway will be cleared and equipment removed prior to the event to allow for traffic flow along the detour route.
In addition, southbound Palmisano Boulevard between Judge Perez Drive and Ohio Street will be closed until approximately 8 p.m.
Westbound traffic on Judge Perez Drive will not be affected and will remain open throughout the parade.
Deputies will be stationed along the route to assist with traffic control, provide security, and help ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone attending.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, expect delays in the area, and use alternate routes when possible.
