SBSO TO PARTICIPATE IN SELF DEFENSE CLASS BENEFITING WORTHY CAUSE
Community members will have the opportunity to gain practical, real-world self-defense skills while supporting a meaningful cause during an upcoming Situational Awareness & Self-Defense fundraiser benefiting families fighting pediatric brain cancer.
Sheriff James Pohlmann said the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is proud to partner with several community organizations for the event, hosted by Hogs For The Cause, set for Sunday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Val Reiss Recreation Complex, 1101 Magistrate St. in Chalmette.
The training will feature Sensei Darryn Melerine of Zanshin Dojo, an internationally recognized martial artist known for his practical, real-world self-defense instruction. World Champion Pit Master James Cruse will also take part.
Col. Chad Clark, commander of the Criminal Investigations Bureau, and Capt. Ryan Melerine of CIB, along with other SBSO deputies will participate alongside community members in the hands-on training designed to build confidence, situational awareness and personal safety skills, all while supporting an important cause.
