SBSO TO PARTICIPATE IN ‘BUCKLE UP’ IN YOUR TRUCK CAMPAIGN
In an effort to enhance roadway safety, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office will participate in the 2026 “Buckle Up In Your Truck” initiative, sponsored by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
Sheriff James Pohlmann is reminding motorists that seat belt laws apply to everyone on the road, regardless of the type of vehicle, and failure to buckle up could result in a citation.
As part of this initiative, deputies will conduct increased patrols throughout St. Bernard Parish from Saturday, April 18, through Saturday, April 25, 2026, focusing on seat belt enforcement and driver compliance.
“One of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself on the road is to wear your seat belt,” Sheriff Pohlmann said. “In a split second, a crash can change everything. Buckling up can be the difference between walking away and suffering serious injury or worse.”
The campaign aims to increase seat belt usage and reduce preventable injuries and fatalities among all motorists – not just those driving pickup trucks, but anyone traveling on our roadways.
