SBSO TAX MILLAGE PASSES, SHERIFF THANKS RESIDENTS
St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the residents of St. Bernard Parish for their support in passing the millage on the Dec. 10th ballot this past weekend.
“I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude to all of the voters in St. Bernard who supported our millage proposition,” the Sheriff said. “Your votes spoke to the importance that you place on safety and the quality of life that we enjoy in St Bernard. Thank you for your continued support of the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office and for allowing us to protect you, your families and your property.”
Sheriff Pohlmann said the 12-mill property tax will provide the Sheriff’s Office with crucial funding for recruiting and retaining qualified deputies. The additional revenue will cover costs of paying deputies salaries comparable with that of other law enforcement agencies in the region, he said.
With many neighboring agencies recently enacting significant pay raises for deputies, Sheriff Pohlmann said this millage will allow him to bring the salary scale for St. Bernard deputies in line with other local agencies and also allow for the revamping of the department’s longevity pay scale.
Sheriff Pohlmann thanks the citizens of St. Bernard Parish for their unwavering support and commitment to “Keeping St. Bernard Safe.”
