SBSO SUPPORTS EXCEPTIONAL ATHLETES
Several members of the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office were proud to assist Exceptional Athletes of St. Bernard during a Special Olympics qualifying meet held Wednesday, April 8, at Borgnemouth Field in Meraux, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Deputies were on hand to support the athletes, helping to ensure a safe and encouraging environment as they pursued their qualification.
Exceptional Athletes is a group of young adults who have continued to compete and excel after aging out of the St. Bernard Parish Public School System’s Special Olympics program.
Sheriff Pohlmann praised both the athletes and those who came out to support them.
“These athletes continue to inspire us all with their determination and spirit,” the Sheriff said. “We were honored to be part of such a meaningful event and to stand alongside a community that shows up to support them.”
