SBSO SGT. JACOB HADLEY GRADUATES FROM HAZARDOUS DEVICES SCHOOL

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jacob Hadley, a member of the Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division, recently graduated from Hazardous Devices School in Huntsville, Alabama, earning certification as a Public Safety Bomb Technician, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

The intensive six-week program included advanced training in demolition, electronics, portable X-ray techniques, robot operations, and the safe identification and disruption of potential explosive devices.

Sheriff Pohlmann said specialized training remains a top priority for SBSO.
“Advanced training ensures our deputies are prepared for the most complex and dangerous situations,” the Sheriff said.

Capt. Stephen Ingargiola, director of training and a member of the SBSO Bomb Squad, highlighted the significance of the accomplishment.

“Hazardous Devices School is a very demanding program,” Capt. Ingargiola said. “Sgt. Hadley’s certification strengthens our Bomb Squad and enhances our ability to protect the community.”

Sgt. Hadley said he is ready to put the training to work.

“This course sharpened my skills and prepared me to respond safely and effectively when called upon,” he said. “I’m committed to using this training to protect our community and support our team.”

As a newly certified Public Safety Bomb Technician, Sgt. Hadley joins fellow SBSO Bomb Squad members, including Capt. Ingargiola, Capt. Ryan Melerine of the Criminal Investigations Bureau, and Maj. Daniel Doucet, commander of Technical Services, who also serves as Bomb Squad commander.

Sgt. Hadley began his law enforcement career in 2018. In addition to his current assignment in the Patrol Division, he previously served in the Special Investigations Division’s Narcotics Unit and is a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team. Sgt. Hadley also served in the U.S. Marines from 2011-15, attaining the rank of sergeant.
