SBSO SEEKS SUSPECT IN ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY; ONE IN CUSTODY

An arrest has been made in connection with the Aug. 10, 2026 attempted armed robbery in Arabi, and St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are still seeking a second suspect, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Vito Odom, 20, of the 1300 block of Charbonnet Street in New Orleans, was taken into custody on Tuesday, Sept. 29 with assistance from the New Orleans Police Department. He was booked in Orleans Parish on SBSO’s arrest warrant for attempted armed robbery.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau are still working to identify and locate the second suspect.

Shortly after midnight on Aug. 10, SBSO deputies responded to a business in the 6700 block of St. Claude Avenue after receiving a report of an injured man seeking help. Investigators learned the man had been walking in the 900 block of Mehle Street when two masked individuals approached him and demanded his cellphone and wallet.

When the victim refused, a struggle ensued, and he sustained injuries. The suspects fled on foot without taking any of his belongings. The victim made his way to a nearby business, where an employee contacted the Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
