SBSO ROAD CLOSURES/TRAFFIC CONGESTION
St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann would like to remind residents that St. Bernard Highway’s eastbound lanes are still currently closed from Center Street to Rowley Boulevard following the tornado that moved through Arabi on Wednesday (Dec. 14) around 4 p.m.
The closure and several traffic lights out due to power outages in the area have caused heavy traffic congestion on Judge Perez Drive coming into the parish, the Sheriff said.
Motorists coming into St. Bernard are asked to consider taking Paris Road as an alternative entry into the parish to help ease congestion.
Deputies are directing traffic at several intersections to help ease congestion and will continue to do so until roads are clear and power is restored.
Residents also are urged for their own safety to not move or go around barricades, and please be patient with utility workers and emergency personnel.
