SBSO REMINDS RESIDENTS TO CHECK THE BACK SEAT

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with local businesses in an effort to remind patrons not to leave children and pets unattended in vehicles, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

The Sheriff said leaving children and pets alone in vehicles could be extremely harmful to their safety and well-being, especially with such high temperatures here in southeast Louisiana.

Lt. Eric Eilers, head of Community Relations, and Dep. Aaron Johnson, who also serves as chaplain, have been visiting local businesses asking if they will put a sticker on their front door that reminds patrons entering the business to check their vehicles for children or pets inadvertently left behind.

St. Bernard Parish businesses who would like a sticker for their front door can contact Lt. Eilers at (504) 278-7628 or Dep. Johnson at (504) 278-7659.
