SBSO RECEIVES ISLENOS 50TH ANNIVERSARY POSTER
The Los Isleños Heritage and Cultural Society recently presented Sheriff James Pohlmann with one of 100 signed copies of its 50th anniversary poster.
The poster features “Our Ancestors’ Journey,” a painting created by local artist Claire Nunez Pescay in collaboration with fellow local artist Donna Lind, a longtime friend of the Society.
Pescay donated her time and talent to the project. Together, the artists depicted the Canary Islanders’ journey to and settlement in St. Bernard Parish. The original painting is on display at the Los Isleños Museum.

Founded in 1976, the Los Isleños Heritage and Cultural Society of St. Bernard preserves and promotes the heritage and cultural traditions of the Canary Islanders who settled in the parish between 1778 and 1783.
