SBSO READY FOR PARADE WITH DEPUTIES AND LIVE UPDATES
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office will be out in full force along the parade route and surrounding areas to help keep everyone safe as the 2026 St. Bernard Irish Italian Islenos Community Parade & Marching Club Parade rolls through Chalmette on Saturday, April 11. The parade begins at noon, with walkers stepping off at 11 a.m.
If you’re heading out, you can follow along in real time with updates on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, as well as a live stream on YouTube to track the parade’s progress.
Sheriff James Pohlmann said the agency’s Mobile Emergency Operations Center will lead the way, sharing regular location updates so spectators always know where the parade is headed next.
Using social media and the Mobile Emergency Operations Center not only keeps the public informed, but also helps reduce the number of non-emergency calls to the Communications Division’s 9-1-1 Center.
“By posting updates on Facebook, we can reduce the number of calls coming into our 9-1-1 Center from people wanting to know where the beginning of the parade is, keeping the lines open for emergencies,” the Sheriff said.
This year’s parade will feature 31 floats tossing thousands of pounds of produce, along with dozens of marching units.
The route will follow its traditional path, beginning and ending at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center, with U-turns near Dr. Meraux Boulevard and Ventura Drive.
