SBSO NAMES SGT. BRIAN CANEPA RECRUITER

St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann has appointed Sgt. Brian Canepa as the department’s new full-time recruiter.

Sgt. Canepa, a 15-year veteran of law enforcement, will be responsible for recruiting and retaining qualified employees for the Sheriff’s Office.

“The goal of the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is to become the finest law enforcement organization in the state of Louisiana. To accomplish this goal, we must be selective in hiring, diligent in training and thoughtful in supervision,” Sheriff Pohlmann said. “Sgt. Canepa’s mission will be to find qualified candidates and ensure they’re a good fit for the agency.”

Sgt. Canepa, who began his career in law enforcement in 2008 as a member of the Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division, also served as an agent in the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit for four years. He returned to the Patrol Division in 2021 upon being promoted to his current rank of Sergeant.

He also is a 17-year veteran of the Louisiana Army National Guard and still active as a Platoon Sergeant.

Sgt. Canepa is looking forward to showcasing what the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has to offer.

“I’m really excited to get to work and promote our agency,” he said. “We have a lot to offer as an agency and community, if you invest in us, we will invest in you!”
