SBSO MONITORING TROPICAL STORM BERTHA
Sheriff James Pohlmann said the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office is fully prepared and closely monitoring Tropical Storm Bertha.
Deputies will continue regular patrols throughout the parish, with increased patrols in coastal areas as conditions warrant. Additional manpower is on standby, and high-water vehicles and other specialized equipment are ready for deployment should they be needed.
At this time, no roadblocks are in place, but that could change if conditions deteriorate. Any road closures or traffic restrictions will be announced if they become necessary. The Sheriff’s Office also has personnel monitoring weather conditions around the clock.
“We want our residents to know that we are prepared and ready to respond if needed,” Sheriff Pohlmann said. “Our deputies will remain on duty throughout this weather event to protect and serve the people of St. Bernard Parish.”
Sheriff Pohlmann encourages residents to follow updates from the National Hurricane Center, local meteorologists, and state and local officials.
He also asks everyone to avoid unnecessary travel if any heavy rain moves through our area, and never drive through standing water or around barricaded roadways.
Now is a good time to secure loose outdoor items, charge electronic devices, and make sure you have essential supplies on hand should conditions worsen.
