SBSO MARINE DIVISION PARTICIPATES IN TACTICAL BOATING OPERATORS COURSE
Members of the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office Marine Division recently participated in a tactical operators course, a specialized boat training hosted by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
The course, held June 2-6, took place in the waters of Lake Pontchartrain near the Coast Guard Station New Orleans. Participants included deputies from SBSO, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries agents, and members of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The Tactical Operators Course is designed to enhance law enforcement officers’ tactical boat handling and response capabilities in high-risk or emergency situations. Training focused on pursuit techniques, vessel-to-vessel contact maneuvers, and coordinated response strategies – skills that are critical for ensuring public safety on the water.
