SBSO MAKES ARREST IN VIOLET SHOOTING
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a Violet man after he shot a family member during an altercation this afternoon in Violet, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Deshawn Spencer, 20, of the 2100 block of Allo Mumphrey Drive in Violet, was booked with aggravated second degree battery.
On Friday, May 13, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies received a call for service in reference to a shooting in the 2100 block of Allo Mumphrey Drive in Violet.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they learned an adult male victim had been shot inside a residence and was being transported to an area hospital by a family member.
During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau learned the victim was shot during an argument with a male relative, later identified as Spencer.
Once in custody, Spencer admitted to the shooting and was transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charge.
Sheriff Pohlmann said this was an isolated incident between the two men.
