SBSO MAKES ARREST IN VIOLET HOMICIDE CASE; ISSUES ARREST WARRANTS

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with a homicide that occurred Thursday afternoon in Violet and has issued arrest warrants for four additional individuals in connection with the case, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

➡️Tyreese Riley, 23, of Contemporary Court in Violet, was booked Feb. 12 with principal to second-degree murder.

Arrest warrants have been issued for the following individuals:

➡️Marcus Venible, 23, of the 3300 block of Jupiter Drive in Chalmette, for second-degree murder.

➡️Maliek Pickens, 21, of the 2300 block of Mumphrey Road in Chalmette, for principal to second-degree murder.

➡️Malajah Lougin, 19, of the 2300 block of Mumphrey Road in Chalmette, for principal to second-degree murder.

➡️Arthur Coleman, 20, of the 2400 block of Garden Drive in Meraux, for principal to second-degree murder.

On Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at approximately 12:40 p.m., deputies with the Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division responded to a call for service in reference to a shooting in the 2000 block of Colonial Boulevard in Violet.

When deputies arrived on scene, they located a 17-year-old male victim lying on the ground behind a business suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau and agents with the Special Investigations Division identified the individuals listed above as suspects in the case. Once they were identified, arrest warrants were obtained.

Sheriff Pohlmann said this was an isolated incident between acquaintances and that no one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing, he said.
