SBSO LOOKING FOR BUSINESS BURGLARY SUSPECT

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with several recent business burglaries, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Bryan Joseph, 46, who is currently listed as homeless, is wanted for one count of simple burglary and is also a person of interest in two additional business burglaries.

On the morning of Sunday, May 18, 2025, deputies responded to a report of a business burglary in the 100 block of Packenham Avenue in Chalmette that occurred overnight while the business was closed. A window was broken to gain entry, and cash was stolen.

During the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau reviewed video surveillance footage and were able to identify Joseph as the suspect.

Joseph is approximately 5’7” tall, weighs 155 pounds, and is known to frequent the Lower 9th Ward area.

The following weekend, on Sunday, May 25, two more businesses — one in Arabi and another in Chalmette — were burglarized in a similar fashion, with windows broken to gain access. Investigators believe Joseph may also be connected to these incidents.

Surveillance video also captured Joseph leaving St. Bernard Parish on a white bicycle via St. Claude Avenue shortly after the burglaries occurred.

Anyone with information regarding Joseph’s whereabouts or any information related to these incidents is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501, the Criminal Investigations Bureau’s tip hotline, (504) 271-TIPS or 8477, or Crimestoppers GNO at (504) 822-1111. Callers can leave a detailed message, and either choose to provide their contact information or remain anonymous. Callers to the CIB tip hotline or Crimestoppers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash award from Crimestoppers.
