SBSO K-9 UNIT RECEIVES DONATION FROM TRACTOR SUPPLY

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office received a $250 donation from Tractor Supply Co. in Meraux to support the agency’s K-9 program, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

SBSO Narcotics Agent Patrick Clark and his K-9 partner, Pit, accepted the donation Monday, Nov. 10, from Store Manager Everett Darensbourg and Assistant Store Manager Katrina King.

Agent Clark and Pit, both of the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit, train year-round and work together in locating illegal narcotics to keep them off the streets of St. Bernard Parish.

Sheriff Pohlmann said he appreciates the donation and the community’s continued support.

“We’re grateful to Tractor Supply for their generosity and for recognizing the work our deputies and K-9’s do to keep our community safe,” he said.

Col. Daniel Bostic Jr., commander of the Special Investigations Division who oversees the K-9 Unit, said the donation will be used to help with training, equipment and care for Pit.

“Pit is a vital part of our operations,” Col. Bostic said. “This donation will go directly towards Pit’s care which enables him and Patrick to continue the great work they do.”

The donation was made as part of Tractor Supply’s “Support for a Hometown Hero” initiative. In addition, the store is offering a 10 percent discount to police officers, firefighters and other first responders on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, as part of its “Hometown Heroes” appreciation event. Just visit the Meraux location and ask how to sign up. The store is located at 2505 Archbishop Hannan Blvd.
