SBSO ISSUES ARREST WARRANT IN FATAL SHOOTING IN VIOLET

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for a man following a fatal shooting that occurred March 13 in Violet, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Leilan Nelson, 21, of the 2200 block of Colonial Boulevard in Violet, is wanted for second degree murder.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call for service in reference to a shooting in the 2200 block of Colonial Boulevard in Violet.

When deputies arrived on the scene they came into contact with an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify Nelson as the suspect in the shooting.

Sheriff Pohlmann said this was an isolated incident between the two men who were acquaintances and that no one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff said.
