SBSO INVESTIGATING FATAL SHOOTING AT CHALMETTE MOTEL
The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Sunday evening, May 11, 2025, at a local motel in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann.
At approximately 10:58 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call for service in reference to a shooting at the Marina Motel, located at 5353 Paris Road in Chalmette.
Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim in one of the rooms with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau determined the shooter to be a 16-year-old juvenile male and the son of the deceased man.
According to preliminary information, a verbal argument between the deceased and his wife escalated into a physical confrontation. During the incident, the juvenile male retrieved a firearm from inside the motel room and fired multiple shots, striking the deceased.
Sheriff Pohlmann said this was an isolated incident involving family members, and no one else was injured. He added that no charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
