SBSO INVESTIGATING DOUBLE MURDER; ISSUES ARREST WARRANT FOR SUSPECT
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double murder that occurred Sunday evening in eastern St. Bernard and has issued an arrest warrant for a suspect, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
On Sunday, April 5, at approximately 7:45 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 2200 block of Centanni Drive in the St. Bernard community.
Upon arrival, deputies located two adult female victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to an area hospital, where they both died from their injuries.
During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau identified the suspect as 22-year-old Lee Collins III of the 2200 block of Centanni.
Collins, a family member of the victims, fled the scene on foot and is believed to have stolen a white 2019 Ford stake-bed truck bearing Louisiana license plate Z258037.
Detectives have issued an arrest warrant for him on two counts of second-degree murder.
The investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff said.
