SBSO HOSTS LEADERSHIP ST. BERNARD CLASS
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office hosted a Leadership St. Bernard class titled “Meet Your Parish Officials” on Thursday, Feb. 17 in the SBSO Training Center in Chalmette.
Lt. Eric Eilers, director of Community Relations, and Maj. John Gutierrez, spoke during the class.
Other guest speakers included: State Rep. Ray Garofalo, Parish President Guy McInnis, St. Bernard District Attorney Perry Nicosia, St. Bernard Assessor Jaylynn Turner, and Fire Chief Charles Licciardi. Charles Ponstein, David Gorbaty, Lenor Duplessis spoke on the St. Bernard Police Jury, and Council Members Richie Lewis, Kerri Callais, Josh Moran and Wanda Alcon, Constable Tina Micheau and Justices of the Peace Beau Bowman and Charles Jackson also spoke.
Leadership St. Bernard, now in its 9th class, is a program designed to educate and engage citizens in identifying needs, resources, and opportunities for St. Bernard Parish as a way to motivate and increase the awareness of potential leaders.
Throughout the year, the course covers a wide array of topics including regional perspectives, quality of life issues, culture and tourism, diversity, education, industry, economic and community development and governmental affairs.
