SBSO HOSTS HOLIDAY PARTY FOR RESERVE DIVISION DEPUTIES
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office recently hosted a holiday appreciation party honoring members of the Sheriff’s Office Reserve Division, recognizing their dedication and countless hours of volunteer service to the community, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
“Our Reserve deputies willingly give their time, step up whenever they’re needed, and play a vital role in keeping our parish safe,” the Sheriff said. “We are very thankful for their commitment.”
Lt. Chris Scheeler, supervisor of the Reserve Division, said the division is composed of 22 trained volunteer deputies who serve as unpaid officers in St. Bernard Parish.
Sheriff Pohlmann attended the event to personally thank the Reserve deputies for their continued commitment and service.
During the celebration, held at Docville Farm in Violet, Rita and Floyd Gue with the Meraux Foundation presented a $5,000 donation to the Reserve Division to help support training, equipment, and operational needs.
“We are thankful to the Meraux Foundation for its continued generosity and support of law enforcement in St. Bernard Parish,” the Sheriff said.
The holiday celebration also included raffles and prize drawings for Reserve deputies as a small token of appreciation for the time, commitment, and sacrifice these volunteers make in support of law enforcement.
The Sheriff’s Office always welcomes new applicants, but they must complete Peace Officers Standards and Training, or P.O.S.T. School.
