SBSO DRUG TAKE-BACK SET FOR SATURDAY
St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann is asking residents to clear out their medicine cabinets and safely dispose of any unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications on Saturday, April 26, as the Sheriffâs Office joins the annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., SBSO Narcotics Unit agents from the Special Investigations Division will be on hand at Walgreens, 100 W. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette, at the corner of Paris Road, to collect unwanted medications.
âThis is a great chance for residents to responsibly dispose of old medications, keeping them out of the reach of children who might misuse them or criminals who could sell them illegally,â Sheriff Pohlmann said.
Since its launch in 2010, the DEA-led initiative has successfully collected over 4.8 million pounds of prescription drugs nationwide.
If youâre unable to attend on April 26, the Sheriffâs Office also offers a year-round medication drop box at the substation located at 4700 Paris Road in Chalmette.
