SBSO DETERMINES TWO NEW ORLEANS MEN INVOLVED IN FATAL CHALMETTE SHOOTING
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a New Orleans man and issued a warrant for another in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday, Jan. 12 in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Jermaine Cole Jr., 25, of the 4900 block of Maid Marion Drive in New Orleans, was booked this morning (Jan. 14) with second degree murder and obstruction of justice.
An arrest warrant was issued for Kasey Severin, 34, of the 4500 block of Charlene Drive in New Orleans, and he was taken into custody Monday, Jan. 13 by the New Orleans Police Department Monday.
Severin, who is currently in the custody of the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, will be booked with accessory after the fact to second degree murder.
On Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of East Solidelle Street in Chalmette.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Sheriff Pohlmann said this was an isolated incident between acquaintances and that no one else was injured.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Louisiana State Police, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the New Orleans Police Department and its Violent Crimes Abatement Investigation Team assisted in the investigation, the Sheriff said.
