SBSO COLLECTS NEARLY 200 POUNDS OF MEDICATIONS
The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office collected nearly 100 pounds of unused or expired medications during National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 25, at Walgreens in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Special Investigations Division Narcotics Agent Lt. Clifford “Chip” Englande, left, and Sgt. Barry Sevin with the National Guard Counter Drug Program, center, were on hand to assist residents in safely disposing of unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications, helping to keep them out of the wrong hands. Also pictured is Walgreens Manager Kevin Krul.
Lt. Englande said an additional 96 pounds of medications were collected through the Sheriff’s Office drop box at its Field Operations Bureau substation, located at 4700 Paris Road in Chalmette.
The next Drug Take-Back at Walgreens will take place in October; however, residents can dispose of unused or expired medications year-round at the secure drop box, which is available 24/7 at the Paris Road substation. The Sheriff’s Office encourages the public to take advantage of this safe and convenient disposal option at any time.
