SBSO CAPT. STEPHEN INGARGIOLA NAMED PRESIDENT OF LOUISIANA FBI ACADEMY

St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office Capt. Stephen Ingargiola was recently named president of the Louisiana Chapter of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

The Louisiana Chapter of the FBI National Academy is a progressive organization consisting of both active and retired law enforcement executives and administrators from across the state who are committed to continuing education, networking and community involvement. The chapter currently has more than 300 members including Sheriffs, Police Chiefs and senior law enforcement leaders.

Prior to becoming president, Capt. Ingargiola said, officers of the organization must serve as executive board members for two years, learning from their predecessors, then as vice president and after president-elect. Each officer is selected by Past Presidents of the chapter, he said.

Capt. Ingargiola is honored to serve such a distinguished organization.

“As NA graduates our mission is to build more law enforcement leaders willing to make those steps of improving for the betterment of law enforcement and the communities we serve,” he said.

Under Capt. Ingargiola’s leadership, members will be provided with various opportunities to enhance their skill sets and education.

“As president I will continue to strengthen partnerships and provide valued training events throughout the state,” he said. “I will end my tenure as president with a re-trainer in New Orleans in early 2024.”

Capt. Ingargiola, a 2015 graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, is a 26-year veteran of law enforcement.

He began his career with the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office in 1997 as a member of the Field Operations Bureau’s Patrol Division. He also has served as a Patrol Division Field Training Officer, Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit agent, Special Operations Division bomb tech and Special Weapons and Tactics or S.W.A.T. operator.

Capt. Ingargiola, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, currently serves as the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office Director of Training and Education.
