SBSO CAPT. LISA JACKSON REIGNED AS 2026 QUEEN OF MYSTIC KREWE OF FEMME FATALE

Many in St. Bernard Parish know Capt. Lisa Ballard Jackson as the face of the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, mentoring fifth-graders and promoting positive choices. This Mardi Gras season, she stepped into a different spotlight, reigning as the 2026 Queen of the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale.

Having served with SBSO for more than 30 years, Capt. Jackson proudly represented both her agency and her community throughout her royal year. The Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale, founded in 2013, is the first Mardi Gras krewe established by African American women for African American women, though membership is open to all women. The 2026 parade rolled Feb. 8 along the traditional Uptown route in New Orleans.

Sheriff James Pohlmann said Capt. Jackson represented the department and her Carnival krewe well.

“Her leadership in our community and her dedication to empowering today’s youth make her a great ambassador,” the Sheriff said.

Col. Daniel Bostic, commander of the Special Investigations Division and Capt. Jackson’s supervisor praised her.

“She leads with heart and purpose,” Col. Bostic said. “Whether she’s mentoring children through our D.A.R.E. program or representing our agency in the community, she does so with integrity and pride.”

Capt. Jackson began her career with SBSO in 1992 and has supervised the D.A.R.E. program since 2009. She is a past president of the Louisiana D.A.R.E. Officers Association and recently chaired the 2025 D.A.R.E. Regional Training Conference in New Orleans which provided training for D.A.R.E. officers from 10 parishes from across Louisiana.

She said serving as queen was both humbling and meaningful.

“To reign as Queen of Femme Fatale was an incredible honor,” Capt. Jackson said. “It was a moment of celebration, reflection and gratitude for me and my fellow Krewe members. I am extremely grateful to everyone who has supported me, both personally and professionally.”
