SBSO C.O.P.S. FOR CHRISTMAS DONATES TO MAKE-A-WISH RECIPIENT
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office C.O.P.S (Caring Officers Provide Smiles) for Christmas Inc. recently donated $1,000 to help the Make-A-Wish foundation grant a wish to 10-year-old Arabi resident Mary Nadler who is battling bone cancer and wishes to see snow in Utah.
Members of C.O.P.S. for Christmas at the grant-wishing ceremony held recently at PJ’s Coffee in Chalmette are, fourth from left: Sgt. Shannon Cooper of Criminal Records, Lt. Lacye Lulei of Communications, Dep. Darlene Ricks of Corrections, and Dep. Larry Wilson of the Marine and Reserve Divisions.
Mary’s flier is posted in PJ’s Coffee shops across the country.
C.O.P.S. for Christmas is run by a group of St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office deputies who volunteer their time to help provide St. Bernard families with things such as toys, food, clothing and household and toiletry items. Funding for this annual program is made possible through fundraisers, items collected from local businesses and donations from deputies. This year, a chili cook off fundraiser was held in October and this donation is part of those proceeds.
