SBSO C.O.P.S. FOR CHRISTMAS CHILI COOK OFF FUNDRAISER A SUCCESS

The C.O.P.S. (Caring Officers Provide Smiles) for Christmas Inc. Chili Cook Off Fundraiser was held Oct. 15 at Old Arabi Bar on North Peters Street.

Proceeds from the event will help the organization keep the magic of Christmas alive for several St. Bernard Parish families who might otherwise go without during the holiday season, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Each year, C.O.P.S. for Christmas helps provide local families with things such as toys, food, clothing and household and toiletry items.

More than a dozen teams competed for bragging rights at this year’s chili cook off.

Taste testers couldn’t decide whose chili was better between members of the Special Investigations Division or the Special Operations Division so they named them both first-place winners.

SID team chefs were Maj. Daniel Bostic, Agent Richie Scheuermann and Agent Jason Saltalmachia, and SOD’s cooks were Capt. Michael Ingargiola, Capt. Stephen Ingargiola, Lt. Chris Scheeler and JPSO Detective Keith Dowling.

Second-place honors went to St. Bernard Parish Council Member At Large West Richie Lewis’ team members Jeffery Carroll, Lorenzo Maranda and Donald Mapes; and third place was awarded to the Marine Division’s team Capt. Brian Clark, Lt. Shane Lulei, Dep. Travis Guillot and Brian Clark Jr.
