SBSO C.O.P.S. FOR CHRISTMAS BRINGS HOLIDAY CHEER TO FAMILIES IN NEED

For more than 16 years, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has helped make the holiday season brighter for families in need through its C.O.P.S. (Caring Officers Provide Smiles) for Christmas program, and each year the program has grown bigger and more exciting, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

With the help of generous community partners, bicycle donations from Associated Terminals and Mike’s Electric, and funds raised during the annual Chili Cook-Off fundraiser, this year deputies were able to deliver things such as gifts, toys, food, appliances and furniture to 13 families across the parish just in time for Christmas.

“This program reflects the heart of our agency and the strength of our community,” Sheriff Pohlmann said. “When our deputies come together with local businesses and residents, we’re able to provide comfort, hope, and a reminder that people truly care.”

The deliveries were made Dec. 22 in true holiday fashion, as deputies traveled throughout the parish alongside Santa riding in the festively-decorated S.W.A.T. truck, his elves, motorcycle-riding reindeer, and even The Grinch, spreading smiles along the way.

Sheriff Pohlmann and the men and women of the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office extend their sincere thanks to everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported the C.O.P.S. for Christmas program this year.

Your generosity helped make the holidays meaningful for some families who needed it most!
