SBSO ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS IN VEHICLE THEFT INVESTIGATION

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two suspects following an investigation into a recent series of vehicle thefts and attempted vehicle thefts in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Darrien Zulli, 17, of the 400 block of East Liberaux Street in Chalmette, was booked with theft of a motor vehicle valued between $5,000 and $25,000.

A 16-year-old male juvenile from Chalmette also was booked in the case with theft of a motor vehicle valued between $5,000 and $25,000.

On Monday, July 13, 2026, Special Investigations Division agents and Patrol deputies located a vehicle in the 300 block of East Liberaux Street that had been reported stolen earlier that day from a local business.

As agents approached the stolen vehicle, the two suspects fled on foot but were quickly located and taken into custody.

During the investigation, Criminal Investigations Division detectives used surveillance video and interviews to link Zulli and the juvenile to the stolen vehicle.

Detectives also developed information connecting the suspects to multiple vehicle thefts and attempted vehicle thefts that have recently occurred throughout the Chalmette area.

Sheriff Pohlmann reminds residents to reduce their risk of becoming victims of vehicle theft by always locking their vehicles, removing valuables from plain sight, parking in well-lit areas whenever possible, and reporting suspicious activity immediately.
