SBSO ARRESTS TWO NEW ORLEANS WOMEN ON VARIOUS CHARGES FOLLOWING SHOPLIFTING INCIDENT

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two New Orleans women on various charges following a shoplifting incident, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Sade Thomas, 28, of the 7500 block of Wayfarier Street in New Orleans, was booked with theft by shoplifting, illegal carrying of a weapon, illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under 17 years of age, illegal possession of stolen firearms, possession of Tramadol, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and resisting an officer.

Davion Wiltz, 30, of the 5300 block of Wildair Drive in New Orleans, was booked with illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of stolen firearms, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under 17 years of age.

On Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, shortly before noon, Sheriff Pohlmann said, Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division deputies responded to a call for service in reference to an adult female who fled in a black Ford Escape after shoplifting items from a business in the 3300 block of Paris Road in Chalmette.

The suspect in the shoplifting incident, later identified as Thomas, was located by deputies in the parking lot of another business in the 100 block of West Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.

Wiltz and Thomas’ 4-year-old daughter also were inside the vehicle when deputies located it.

During the course of the investigation, deputies found Thomas and Wiltz to be in possession of the shoplifted merchandise, as well as the following items:

➡️A Smith & Wesson .9mm handgun reported by the Biloxi Police Department as stolen, with 16 rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber.

➡️A Glock 43 handgun reported by the New Orleans Police Department as stolen, with 6 rounds in the magazine and 1 round in the camber.

➡️Several clear plastic bags containing a combined weight of approximately ½ pound of marijuana with an estimated street value of $600.

➡️$922 in cash

➡️Tramadol

A criminal background check was conducted on both Thomas and Wiltz which revealed Thomas had three outstanding traffic warrants out of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and one fugitive warrant out of the New Orleans Police Department.

Thomas and Wiltz were both transported to the St. Bernard Parish Prison and booked accordingly. The child was released to a family member.
