SBSO ARRESTS TWO NEW ORLEANS MEN ON WEAPONS, NARCOTICS CHARGES

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two New Orleans men on weapons and narcotics charges after they fled from deputies during a traffic stop Wednesday evening, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Blade Williams, 19, of the 3200 block of Trafalger Street in New Orleans, was booked with illegal possession of a weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana, possession of Psilocybin, possession of drug paraphernalia, flight from an officer, reckless operation of a vehicle and expired license plate.

Khalil Everett, 21, of the 2800 block of North Rocheblave Street in New Orleans, was booked with illegal possession of a weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana, possession of Psilocybin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, Jan. 25, shortly before 5 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, Field Operations Bureau deputies on patrol in the Chalmette area attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2006 Chevrolet Impala with an expired license plate traveling at a high rate of speed headed northbound on Paris Road.

The driver, later identified as Williams, refused to stop and was followed by deputies into eastern New Orleans where he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.

Following the crash, Williams, and the passenger, identified as Everett, were taken into custody by deputies without further incident.

During the course of the investigation, the Sheriff said, deputies recovered two .9mm handguns along with two extended magazines, 359 grams of marijuana, Psilocybin, and clear plastic packaging bags.

Based on the above findings, Williams and Everett were both transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.
