SBSO ARRESTS TWO MEN ON NARCOTICS, WEAPONS CHARGES
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two men on narcotics and weapons charges following an investigation conducted by the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Jonathan Petit, 38, of the 2000 block of Bartolo Drive in Meraux, was booked with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a stolen firearm, Illegal controlled dangerous substance in presence of a person under 17 years old, child restraints, child desertion, aggravated obstruction of a highway, aggravated flight from an officer, obstruction of justice tampering with evidence, proceeds from drug transactions, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper equipment and window tint.
Don Palmer, Jr., 34, of the 4000 block of North Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans, was booked with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, illegal controlled dangerous substance in presence of a person under 17 years old, obstruction of justice tampering with evidence, proceeds from drug transactions and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During the course of the investigation, SID agents recovered a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm reported stolen out of Orleans Parish, and $2,749 in cash.
A criminal background check was conducted on both subjects which revealed Petit has several prior felony convictions, including violations for narcotics, felon in possession of a firearm, simple burglary, simple robbery and theft. He is also currently on parole.
Palmer has one prior felony narcotics conviction and one conviction for criminal damage to property.
Petit is being held on a $380,800 bond, and Palmer’s bond was set at $347,500.
Sheriff Pohlmann also reminds residents to call the Sheriff’s Office narcotics hotline at (504) 271-DOPE or 3673 to report suspected illegal drug activity in St. Bernard Parish. Callers can remain anonymous, and all calls will be acted upon.
