SBSO ARRESTS TWO MEN, ISSUES WARRANT FOR THIRD, IN CONNECTION WITH ARABI CAR BURGLARY

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two men and has issued an arrest warrant for a third in connection with a vehicle burglary that occurred recently in Arabi, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Demond Jones, 19, of the 4700 block of Arthur Drive in New Orleans, and Marvin Ross Jr., 18, of the 1200 block of Doverville Court in Slidell, were both booked Tuesday with simple burglary.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Eldridge Reed, 20, of the 3000 block of Oliver White Avenue in New Orleans, for simple burglary.

On Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call for service in reference to an auto burglary that occurred overnight in the 2200 block of Esteban Street in Arabi.

During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau observed through video surveillance footage two unknown black males armed with rifles exit a blue Ford Explorer driven by another male and attempt to enter vehicles on Esteban Street around 4:20 a.m. Monday morning.

SBSO detectives worked with the New Orleans Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Violent Crime Abatement Investigation Team to identify Jones, Reed and Ross as the suspects.

All three men were taken into custody on Tuesday, Nov. 19 in the 1600 block of Abundance Street in New Orleans.

Jones and Ross were transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison. Jones is being held on a $50,000 bond, and Ross’ bond was set at $60,000.

A criminal history check was conducted on all three men, which revealed Reed had open-item felony warrants for simple burglary and illegal discharge of a weapon out of Orleans Parish. He was transported to Orleans Parish Prison and is awaiting transfer to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charge.

Anyone with information relating to this incident or any other criminal activity in St. Bernard Parish is asked to call the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501, or the Criminal Investigations Bureau’s tip hotline at (504) 271-TIPS or 8477.
