SBSO ARRESTS TWO MEN IN CONNECTION WITH NEW ORLEANS HOMICIDE
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office assisted in the apprehension of two suspects wanted by the New Orleans Police Department in connection with a shooting that occurred over the weekend in New Orleans, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Harry Darby, 19, of the 3000 block of Jean Lafitte Parkway in Chalmette, was booked with second degree murder and attempted second degree murder.
Julian Vicknair, 18, of the 2800 block of Kenilworth Drive in Kenilworth, was booked with second degree murder and attempted second degree murder.
After receiving information from the NOPD that Darby and Vicknair – both wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning, April 6, in the 7700 block of Willow Street in New Orleans – may be in St. Bernard, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau and agents with the Special Investigations Division launched an investigation and obtained arrest warrants.
Darby and Vicknair were both taken into custody by agents on Monday, April 7 without incident at a residence in the 2400 block of Riverbend Drive in Violet, and were later transported from St. Bernard Parish Prison to the Orleans Justice Center to be booked on the above charges.
According to NOPD investigators, three victims reportedly were driving in the 7700 block of Willow Street April 6, when shots were fired. One victim was struck by a bullet and received non-life-threatening injuries, one was reported deceased at the scene, and the third was not injured.
Also assisting NOPD’s Homicide Unit in the investigation and arrests were the Violent Offenders Warrant Squad (VOWS) and members of NOPD’s Violent Crime Abatement Investigation Team (VCAIT).
NOPD said the investigation is ongoing.
