SBSO ARRESTS TWO MEN AFTER INCIDENT IN NEW ORLEANS CONTINUED INTO ST. BERNARD PARISH

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two men after weapons were drawn and shots were fired during an incident that began in New Orleans and continued into St. Bernard Parish, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Marcel Burns, 27, of the 7400 block of Beau Street in New Orleans, was booked with illegal possession of a weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana and two bench warrants out of St. Bernard.

Marcus Robinson, 24, of the 9100 block of Cumberland Street in Kenner, was booked with five counts of domestic abuse aggravated assault and child endangerment.

On Tuesday, May 3, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies with the Field Operations Bureau responded to a call for service in the 6200 block of East St. Bernard Highway in Violet from a motorist who stated the driver of another vehicle had fired shots at them.

During the course of the investigation, FOB deputies and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau learned the incident between the two men began in New Orleans and continued into St. Bernard Parish.

Deputies conducted search warrants on both vehicles and recovered a Tippmann .22 Caliber rifle from Robinson’s vehicle, and two handguns, a Glock 19 .9mm and a Taurus 62C .9mm, from Burns’ vehicle. They also seized a little over an ounce of marijuana from a backpack inside of Burns’ vehicle.

A criminal history check was performed on both men which revealed Burns is a convicted felon and has two outstanding warrants for traffic attachments out of St. Bernard.

Robinson’s three children, ages 5, 4 and 2, were inside his vehicle during the incident.

Both men were transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.

Sheriff Pohlmann said this was an isolated incident between two men who were acquaintances and no one was injured.

The investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff said.
