SBSO ARRESTS TWO FOR CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, RECKLESS OPERATION
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals for driving across and damaging a public neutral ground and a residential lot in eastern St. Bernard Parish, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Skyler Rainey, 20, of the 2800 block of Riverbend Drive in Poydras, and Collin Harrington, 17, of the 300 block of Cedar Creek Drive in Madisonville, were both booked July 17 with simple criminal damage to property and reckless operation of a vehicle.
On July 17, 2025, at approximately 9 a.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to two separate calls for service in reference to someone driving their vehicle through a residential lot in the 2800 block of Riverbend Drive in Poydras and along the neutral ground on the East Judge Perez Drive extension, from the Violet Canal to Southlake Boulevard.
The damage, which occurred during the overnight hours, caused significant ruts in the grassy areas and widespread mud displacement all over the road.
During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau determined Rainey and Harrington to be the suspects. They both were taken into custody and booked on the above charges.
Sheriff Pohlmann said St. Bernard Parish President Louis Pomes estimated the cost to repair the damage to the neutral ground alone is expected to exceed $2,000 due to the need for additional materials, equipment, and labor.
