SBSO ARRESTS THREE ON NARCOTICS CHARGES FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two men and a woman on various narcotics charges following an investigation conducted by the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Anthony Raines, 48, of the 5600 block of 6th Street in Violet, was booked Dec. 15 with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, illegal possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dereck Howard, 47, of the 3500 block of Golden Drive in Chalmette, was booked Dec. 15 with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and failure to use turn signal.

Iesha Green, 21, of the 9000 block of Gladiator Drive in Chalmette, was booked Dec. 15 with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana.

After obtaining information that Raines was involved in illegal drug activity in St. Bernard, Narcotics Unit agents opened an investigation. Based on their findings, agents obtained several search warrants in the case, Sheriff Pohlmann said.

During the investigation, agents recovered 29 grams of cocaine and fentanyl with an estimated street value of $2,900; 44 grams of cocaine and fentanyl with an estimated street value of $4,400; marijuana, digital scales and clear plastic packaging bags.

Agents also recovered $10,247 in cash, as well as a loaded .9mm Ruger handgun and a Springfield .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

All three subjects were transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.

Sheriff Pohlmann reminds residents to call the Sheriff’s Office narcotics hotline at (504) 271-DOPE or 3673 to report suspected illegal drug activity in St. Bernard Parish. Callers can remain anonymous, and all calls will be acted upon.
