SBSO ARRESTS THIRD SUSPECT IN FATAL SHOOTING IN VIOLET

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested the third person wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old male victim that occurred Nov. 23 outside a residence in Violet, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

A 17-year-old male juvenile from Violet was booked Dec. 8 with second degree murder in the case. He was identified as the suspect witnesses saw fleeing the scene on foot.

Earlier in the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify Cody Adams, 21, of the 3100 block of Oak Drive in Violet, and a 16-year-old male juvenile from Chalmette as the two suspects seen fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Adams and the 16-year-old male juvenile were apprehended on Nov. 24 in Picayune, Mississippi with the help of the Picayune Police Department and the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office. They both were extradited back to St. Bernard Parish on Dec. 2 where they were both booked with second degree murder.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call for service in reference to a shooting in the 2800 block of Moss Lane in Violet.

When deputies arrived on the scene they found a male victim lying in the rear of a driveway suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
