SBSO ARRESTS NEW ORLEANS MAN ON NARCOTICS CHARGES

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a New Orleans man on narcotics charges following an investigation conducted by the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Steven Johnson, 29, of the 3800 block of Jena Street in New Orleans, was booked with possession of cocaine, obscenity, possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, obstruction, introduction of contraband into a correctional facility, window tint 30%, color of lamps/tail lights must be red, suspended driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

SID Narcotics Unit agents who were in the Chalmette area conducted a traffic stop for dark tinted windows and blacked out taillights on a black Chevrolet Avalanche traveling near the intersection of Tyler Street and Victor Street.

During the course of the investigation agents recovered nine clear plastic bags containing heroin and fentanyl with a combined weight of 29.5 grams and $1,706 in cash.

A criminal history check was conducted on Johnson which revealed he has prior convictions for possession of cocaine and marijuana and a suspended driver’s license.

Based on the above findings, Johnson was transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.

His bond has been set at $201,200.
